The Library of Philosophical Historical Literary Area was founded with the School of Humanities and Philosophy in 1982.
The initial assets had about 5000 volumes. Subsequent acquisitions of specialized collections, the natural increase and consolidation of the book heritage of the bibliographic centres of the departments, have led the Library to take on a considerable qualitative and quantitative consistency.
The Library currently possesses about 130,000 volumes and 1300 periodical publications (non-current).
The library catalogue is integrated into the catalogue of the University (OPAC).
It is an integral part of the Library an audio-video section that also houses a detached section of the ‘Luigi Chiarini’ Library of the Scuola Nazionale di Cinema – Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia.
